Michael Nehring is a Physical Therapist Assistant serving patients at Highbar’s East Providence Clinic and Pawtucket Aquatics, where he specializes in both land-based and aquatic physical therapy. With a strong focus on orthopedics, spine care, and aquatic rehabilitation, Michael is passionate about helping active people stay active and continue doing the things they love.
Michael earned his Associate of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant from the Community College of Rhode Island (2021) and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from the University of Rhode Island (1989). His diverse background—including time as a Naval Officer, high school teacher, and coach—shapes his thoughtful, disciplined, and highly supportive approach to patient care.
What Michael enjoys most about being a PTA is working with motivated individuals who want to maintain an active lifestyle. Whether in the pool or on land, he focuses on practical, functional rehabilitation that supports long-term movement and independence.
Outside the clinic, Michael is an avid motorcyclist with a love for adventure touring. He currently competes in the NETRA vintage hare scramble series, racing motorcycles throughout New England. He also speaks a bit of Lithuanian and brings a spirit of curiosity, resilience, and energy into everything he does—both professionally and personally.
