Dr. Calin Butler PT, DPT

Dr. Calin Butler, PT, DPT, is the Clinic Director of Highbar’s Cranston, RI clinic, specializing in orthopedics, sports performance, vestibular rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal injuries of the spine, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles. A former Division I collegiate volleyball player, Calin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition, followed by his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Sacred Heart University in 2023. He holds specialized clinical certifications in Dry Needling, Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 1, and AQuire IASTM.

In his leadership role as Clinic Director, Calin has completed both the Highbar Igniting Leadership Series and the Advanced Mentorship Course. He places a strong emphasis on clinician development, actively mentoring staff physical therapists, guiding new graduates through their early clinical practice, and serving as a Clinical Instructor for doctoral students on their full-time clinical affiliations. Across all levels of care, Calin takes pride in fostering clinical excellence, evidence-based reasoning, and empowering his patients to overcome pain, build resilient movement patterns, and return to the active lifestyles they love.

Beyond the clinic, Calin is deeply invested in athletic development, coaching education, and sports leadership within the community. He is the Founder and Owner of Apex Volleyball Club, where he focuses on expanding youth sports opportunities and developing competitive athletes across Rhode Island/Massachusetts and Connecticut, while also mentoring college students pursuing careers in sports coaching. He also coaches boys’ volleyball at La Salle Academy, having guided the program to multiple state titles, including three Varsity State Championships and an undefeated JV championship season.

A Rhode Island native born and raised in Lincoln, Calin enjoys staying active outside of work through daily gym training, organizing golf trips, and competing in Spartan Races. He is an avid Boston sports fan, enjoys gaming, and has contributed to published research featured in the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning.
