Dr. Mikayla Matos, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist at Highbar Physical Therapy’s Pawtucket clinic who is passionate about helping individuals regain independence, confidence, and quality of life through personalized, evidence-based care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of New Hampshire before completing her Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of New England. Mikayla is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), with memberships in the Neurology and Pediatrics sections.
Mikayla has a special interest in neurologic rehabilitation, particularly working with individuals recovering from stroke and other neurologic conditions. During her doctoral training, she completed a clinical rotation on a comprehensive stroke rehabilitation unit and conducted research examining the intensity of balance exercises prescribed in outpatient physical therapy. She is committed to helping patients improve mobility, restore function, and achieve meaningful goals through individualized treatment plans.
Outside the clinic, Mikayla enjoys volunteering with organizations that promote health equity, improve access to healthcare, and support community wellness. She also enjoys spending time with her Siberian cat, Maggie, who loves going for leash walks and playing fetch.
